Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar was an American and British sitarist. She is also the first and youngest woman to be awarded the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Shakar, a young emerging star on the Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is the student of Ravi Shankar and is also his daughter. She was a child who bounded around from London to New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years old. Later she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman nevertheless, she has an remarkable career in the field of music and performance. She has performed with her father on stage for several years. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. She released Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year later. She's performed in all major venues around the globe. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't restricted to just music. She released Bapi the love of my life in 2002. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday Anoushka first made an appearance playing the sitar before the crowd of at the age of four, following her nine year old father. Anoushka was able to gain many valuable experiences as she traveled with her father during his worldwide tour. It included performances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals, as well as making recordings together with George Harrison. She was the youngest and sole female winner of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her artistry and musicianship as a preeminent musician of in the Asian Arts.
